How to crush the Monday running blues
We’ve all been there.
It’s Monday morning, and the last thing you want to do is lace up and head out for a run.
Maybe the weekend was too fun, or maybe it wasn’t long enough.
Either way, Monday runs feel extra hard.
But here’s the thing—there’s something about shaking off the sluggish start that makes the rest of the week feel easier. I know, it is easier said than done, but it is worth once you actually do it.
So, how do I make it happen? And here is how we can do it together.
- Lay Everything Out the Night Before. THIS IS HUGE. It helps me eliminate the excuses. Set out your gear so you can roll out of bed and go.
- Make It Fun. Choose a new route, listen to a podcast, or run to a coffee shop (yes, reward yourself!). I don't have much time to do all of that lately, so I just put on a playlist, close my basement door, and pretend I am in this other world of loud music and running. It works for me.
- Keep It Short If You Have To. Even a mile is better than nothing. Just getting outside can reset your mindset. Or jumping on the treadmill for 20 minutes.
- Run With a Friend. Accountability helps. I love running with my girls when I have time. If you know someone’s waiting for you, you’ll show up.
- Remind Yourself Why You Run. Whether it’s for fitness, mental clarity, or just to prove to yourself that you can—hold onto that reason.
Mondays may never be easy, but they set the tone.
So get out there, shake off the weekend, and start the week strong.
You got this!
