A Halloween race?
So, it is still summer time but runners like fall weather so I am already looking for races in October. I signed up for on October 27, but there is this super interesting Halloween 5k race: Dead Man's Run in Washington, D.C. that I've been wanting (I wanted to say dying but I held myself together) to do for some time.
It is on October 12th at 5:30 p.m. and it is Congressional Cemetery's annual fall 5K fundraiser race--and no, I am not getting paid for this post, it might just be an interesting place to race. Should I do it? I think I will.
- It is a historic and still active burial ground in Washington, D.C., known for its rich history and community engagement.
- The cemetery, officially known as the Washington Parish Burial Ground, was nicknamed Congressional Cemetery after Congress purchased plots and funded improvements in the 1830s.
- It is home to 171 cenotaphs honoring members of Congress who died in office.
- The cemetery operates as a non-profit organization and relies on donations for preservation and maintenance.
- It is known to be the final resting place for several prominent women who were involved in the fight for voting rights and other social causes.
Back to the race. Well, it's unique and we get to run through the scenic and historic grounds. For a runner enthusiast and history nerd like me, it is the perfect combination.
Thanks for stopping by.
Don't forget to follow my journey on Instagram. I promise you, I don't overpost--is that even a word?
